I LOVE the unlimited negotiation idea, but I doubt it has a snowflake's chance in hell. A) It would require a coding change. B) It would require a fairly drastic coding change to make it only applicable to this league (at least as far as I understand the program based on what Scott has said in the past.)

There are a few problems with bidding idea. First, what's the trade off between salary and bonuses? If I bid $5,000,000 and a $500,000 bonus, is that more or less than a bid of $5,500,000 salary?

Second, what if the player won't accept the high bid for him?

Third, since these are players already on someone's roster, we won't know what his asking price is except for what the owner tells us.

I'm not saying that bidding for other people's players is impossible, just pointing out some issues that need to be addressed.

I think we could come up with a breakdown on the value of an offer. using Scott's basic total cash value of the offer as an idea maybe. possibly doubling the value fo SIgning bonuses.... whatever everyone felt was the best formula for expessing the "best" bid.

That is a good point with what the player will accept.since only the "owner" knows their asking. It could be worked a few different ways. The team that won the bid would have the option for signing them to the minimum that they player will take - as long as it's equal or higher then the bid, or they could cut them dumping them into the FA market to be treated as a "normal" FA.

That's just a quick thought on it. I'm sure it wil take awhile to flesh out an idea that can be presented.
